Selection Procedure

Selection Procedure

The applications for admission are reviewed by the admission committee. Relative weightage of all components of the admission process including academic achievements in SSC, HSSC, the entry test result, and the interview are added to determine the merit. Selected students are asked in writing, to confirm their intent to join the Institute by depositing the college fee and other dues within a week of the announcement of final selection. 

The weightage for the calculation of merit is as under:

SSC/Equivalent    10%  HSSC              50%  Entry Test + interview               40% 

If the intent for admission is not confirmed by the due date, the seat will be offered to the next candidate on the waiting list. No further claim of admission by the previous incumbent will be entertained.

The merit list is finalized by the Institute admission selection committee. The decisions of the committee are irrevocable and non-negotiable. The authorities are not bound to explain the reason for their decision to the applicants or their parents/ guardians.

Intimation for Entry Test & Interview

After scrutinizing all applicants, an information letter is sent to those who fulfill the criteria for admission with complete details of the date, time, and venue of the entry test.

Eligibility Criteria

Students possessing any one of the following qualifications are eligible for consideration. All foreign qualifications must be supported by an Equivalence Certificate issued by the IBCC.

The Equivalence Certificate will be obtained from a government office of the Ministry of Education called “The Inter Board Committee of Chairmen (IBCC)”. This office translates foreign qualifications into Pakistani equivalents. It has its own requirements to be met and it may take 4 to 6 weeks.
The ASKARI INSTITUTE OF PHARMACEUTICAL SCIENCES shall not provide any information  or assistance in this regard. It is the applicant’s responsibility to obtain the Equivalence Certificate before an offer of admission can be formalized.

60% percent overall score in pre-medical group of Intermediate Certification (F.Sc) in Pakistan. However, much higher scores prove competitive.

British Advanced Level Certification with Biology, Chemistry and Physics. The achievements should be over 60% (pre-medical) in IBCC Equivalence Certificate.

US Grade-12 or Canadian Grade-13 Diploma (minimum GPA 3.0) accompanied by an Equivalence

Certificate from the IBCC of at least 60% F.Sc pre-medical qualification (that will require inclusion of Biology and Chemistry in the final 3 years)

Higher Secondary School Certificate from other countries with Biology, Chemistry and Physics/Mathematics accompanied by an Equivalence Certificate from IBCC of at least 60% F.Sc Premedical qualification.

Askari Institute Admissions

The applicants resident in Pakistan are required to appear in the admission test irrespective of curriculum or system of education. This provides a uniform measure of evaluation for all applicants irrespective of the basis of different boards of education in Pakistan and different systems of education.

The entry test is an objective type of examination, with multiple choice types of questions (MCQs) based on the standard of F.Sc (Pre-Medical).  Each MCQ is followed by four possible answers from which the candidate has to select the best one. The entry test is conducted in the subjects of Biology, Physics, Chemistry, and English. The following will be the ratio of questions of entry test.
Entry test is not mandatory for students who have already appeared in an entry test conducted by the provincial authorities/SAT with a minimum 550 score. However, they are encouraged to take the AIPS entry test for the sake of improvement of their merit, if required.

Interview

Doctor of Pharmacy (5 years Degree Program) (Pharm.D)

After the entry test, an interview by the members of the admission selection committee of the institute forms an integral part of the evaluation for final selection. The interview is to assess the aptitude and a tude towards the pharmacy profession. It is desired that at the me of admission parents/ guardians of the candidate are also present. A clinical psychologist will be one of the members of the admission committee. Final selection is made with the approval of the Principal.

Pharmacy Technician (2 years Diploma Program)

After the entry test, an interview by the members of the admission selection committee of the institute forms an integral part of the evaluation for final selection. Orientation

Orientation

The orientation sessions are conducted frequently in the beginning of every semester to facilitate the newcomers and remove their ambiguities. The pool of information is provided regarding course registration process, class schedules, course outlines, virtual tour of the respective departments and meeting with the faculty members. They are also acquainted with other university staff including; CEO, Director and Principal. Students are also acquainted with alumni and final year students also share their educational journey and mesmerizing events with their fellows.
